"do you deserve a legal conscience clause?" by Jeffrey Weiss
Sometimes projects evolve as they proceed, and mutate into something else entirely by the time they're finished.
Sometimes a project director even forgets the original project by the time it is finished, and this certainly seems to be the case with Politics Daily reporter, Jeffrey Weiss.
On this blog you can see the original questions sent out by Mr. Weiss to me, and apparently other prolife people, although with one individual, a "conversation" was said to have taken place.
Visit this link to see the actual email questions from Mr. Weiss, then compare to the article he wrote in Politics Today. It will reveal a good deal about life with the media if you do this. I've set those links to spring up in different tabs for you to flip back and forth and compare fairly easily.
One interesting thing is to see that the project evolved in his mind (apparently after design of these emails) to a general question of what things should be covered by legal conscience protection, instead of why should abortion be the only thing covered by conscience protection.
Note also that in the original email, Mr. Weiss showed a lack of awareness of the other conscience protections existing in law.
He apparently learned from me, and perhaps others, that the military respects conscientious objectors, for example.
Also, note the issue of Federal protection addressed in the original email, as distinguished from local protections.
And most importantly, note that Mr. Weiss doesn't want to tell you that, although Obama is promising robust conscience protections, he has delivered none, In fact, Obama began his term by announcing intent to rescind the executive order by President Bush. Bush's order had put some teeth in the existing federal conscience laws by tying adherence to federal funding. Formerly those laws were to be enforced only by civil lawsuits brought by unemployed health care professionals. (Think about that for a second or two...) Obama's recission returns the conscience laws to that nearly unenforceable status.
This is probably enough info for inquiring minds to see behind the above titled article. The remaining religiously inclined Obama supporters will continue to see what they want to see until all the religiously affiliated health care institutions are closed down.

This was extremely interesting. Mr. Weiss seemed to have no interest in actually discussing the merit of conscience clause protections for healthcare providers in regards to abortion. Honestly, he seemed far more interested in discussing conscience clause protections for teachers... I wonder why that is? Perhaps he found himself fighting a losing battle?
He was extremely rude to you, despite your eloquent and to-the-point responses.
I also noticed that although everyone who responded about the abortion issue had the same thing to say (it equates to forcing someone to kill, which we don't do in this country), the reporter seemed completely oblivious to the common thread throughout the emails. That abortion kills, and no man or woman should be made to kill against their will.
Also, his argument about french fries was entirely asinine, and he knew it.
Okay, now I'm on a rant. Off to bed with me. A very eloquent and accurate response from you, Pharmer.
Dangit I repeated myself about your response... But really, it was well-written.
Excellent response, Pharmer. Of course, they guy has to eat, although the Barrie Hussein death panels may rule he is a useless eater if he let's go the leftist buzz words and lines.
Heil and Hope and Change to the Glorious Leader who knows what's best for every pharmacist and health care worker!
With all due respect, perhaps we had a disconnect. In my long list of potential alternative possibilities for jobs that might be entitled to a conscience clause, I had hoped I was making it clear that I was not intending to focus on any one case or the truth-claims thereof. What I was hoping for was something broader, as I hope was reflected in my piece.
The key question was the last one: "How should we draw the line?"
To the extent that you engaged that question, your reply was:
It is a human right to choose to avoid direct involvement in killing another human in health care practice.
Leftists choose to relegate this human right to a lower priority than
1) their own access to recreational sex,
2) making very young individuals more available for sex, and
3) protecting rapists from prolonged prison sentences or other deterrents.
The first one being arguably true.
The second being a scurrilous smear unless you are attacking such a small splinter group that 99% of "leftists," "rightists" and "middlists" would join in your condemnation.
The third being insufficiently precise to determine whether it is true or not. But given the improbability that anyone from any branch of the political spectrum has an interest in "protecting rapists," it is not likely to refer to anything true.
None of them approaching anything like a broader principle.
But thank you for the exchange nonetheless. To the extent that any disconnect was due to my lack of clarity in my questions, I regret that.

A smear, he says.
Can you spell ACORN??? Sure you can.
THere are five offices visited by team O'Keefe and Giles, and five positively perverted responses. Specifically, the team stated that they have never been turned away for their premise from any ACORN office.
Prior to this work, is the Live Action Films Sting of Planned Parenthood, caught protecting rapists, and accepting donations earmarked to abort Black babies. Planned Parenthood is being sued for protecting rapists.
I've been talking to leftists- unplugged for YEARS, and the ACORN result is Zero surprise to me for that reason. However my admiration for the young journalists is extreme.
Jeffrey, you have been replaced.
Caught with his ACORN's down, eh? Eventually the secular, godless left shows what it is, empty and without any logical arguments.
